The Georgia Exemplary Library Application Process

OnTuesday, April 28, Debra and Heather will be presenting at the South Georgia Media Specialists Conference at Valdosta State University on the Exemplary Library Media Program application process.  While we hope to see you there, in case you’re unable to attend, all of our documents can be found here in this post.

First of all, we would have appreciated a sample to go by when creating our application.  Here’s ours:  hahira-middle-school-exemplary-media-application-081

Here’s the rubric we followed for evaluating our program:  rubric_2008_october_2007

Here’s the PowerPoint we used to present at this year’s conference complete with snippets of ideas we used from our self-evaluation:  hahira-middle-school-media-program

HMS’s 2008 Georgia Exemplary Media Program Application

As we embarked upon the process of self-evaluation and the application process, we didn’t know quite where to begin and would loved to have had a guide.  Here’s our application should you too need a guide!  Good luck with the process.  It was an unbelievable learning experience for us.  If we can provide any guidance or assistance, just contact us!  Click this link to access the application:  hahira-middle-school-exemplary-media-application-08

Step by step instructions for creating a podcast in Audacity

Photo Story Ideas

After watching Debra teaching Pluto: The Unplanet, use this great guide from Mark Geary to take Photo Story back to your school.  He uses Photo Story 3 to create book trailers.  Follow this link for the useful tutorial, written guide, and lesson idea:  http://www.techlearning.com/showArticle.php?articleID=196604857, or post your own ideas here.

RESA Media Specialist Gathering

Tuesday, March 18 at Hahira Middle School, 8:30-2:30.  Join a gathering of area media specialists as we meet with our RESA media liaison, Janie Baxter.  Did you attend the Carole Fiore session?  Make sure to register so you can earn a PLU.

On the agenda for the day is working collaboratively with classroom teachers.  Download our Collaborative Planning Form to help develop great LFS focused lessons.  We also plan to discuss strategies to  get teachers more involved in the media center, technology staff development, as well as a discussion group session to share concerns and ideas with others.

Welcome to the HMS Media Center Blog!

We hope to use this blog to stay connected throughout our RESA district and have a way to share ideas and information.
